SpLD Support & Assistive Technology Integration

This workshop looks at Integrating Dyslexia support into AT Training and why celebrating neurodiversty is crucial! We also focus on Dyslexic Study Skills and a Neurodiverse Approach to AT Training. This workshop focuses on understanding how Assistive Technology can be life changing, especially when delivered in a way that suits a specific neurodiverse learning style.

The workshop looks at the importance of:
• Developing rapport with the learner
• The impact of low self esteem
• The identification of the individual's learning preferences
• How counseling methods can be applied to help learners in gaining confidence in the use of AT

This we believe plays an underlying role in supporting learners to celebrate their own neurodiverse learning profile.

The workshop will examine objectively the DSA Assistive Technology software and hardware, looking at where it works to help, and where it presents limitations for the learner. The workshop explains how traditional learning and study skills techniques can be integrated in the AT training delivery. The workshop also illustrates the importance of empathy and confidence building in overcoming anxiety and low self-esteem.
